Can you really graft that scion to that root stock?

How do you graft 1 or more scions to the same root-stock?

Is it really tricky, or do you have a new discovery that you can share with us that you've created...

Or are you just looking for help from some experts...

Come on in and post those quesions.

I've heard of this but

I've heard of this but never tried it. I remember my Dad trying to graft 2 different pear trees together. This is what I can remember... He used the trunk of a small pear tree, cutting the top completely off leaving about 18 inches of trunk, then cut a V shape into the top. He took a limb from another type of pear tree, cut the end in the opposite shape to fit into the V of the first. Then he applied peat moss around the cuttings and wrapped them tight with a cloth band and left it to mend together. He also used a stake to give support. Can't remember if it worked!!

He may have done other things but this is all I can remember. That was like 40 years ago!!!

Hey George, We now have a

Hey George,

We now have a new sub-forum under propagation as you requested.  I hope we get lots of participation in this new forum so I can learn about grafting plants.

Hello,  I'm very happy that

Hello,

I'm very happy that you added this sub-forum grafting 101.

I'm very sure there will be some interest for users to come in here asking some questions about grafting for example how a weeping caragana was made. And how they can make one from scratch.

It can be a very fun rewarding and addicting hobby to graft, and once you start you don't stop because grafting is endless and you start to experiment with new grafts to new trees/roses/bushes etc... until you come across something very unique and you call your own!

I would love to learn to do some grafting ! maybe with my Plumeiras and Adeniums (Desert Rose) plants !

I was hoping that I could

I was hoping that I could create a new string/forum called Grafting 101 I guess not.

I can only create a sub-form/forum under propagation.

I know it will be busy and do well if you put a 4th forum under the "How To" section.

Is there any way someone can help me out here.  Thanks!

Regards,

George T
