Peacock Orchid

Peacock Orhcids actually arent an Orchid, rather they are related to Gladiolus. I planted them for the first time this spring, and they were the hit of the garden !

They are a fragrant flower, that work well as a cut flower.
They have a longer growing season than Gladiolus, so If you have a short season, you may want to start the corms inside before your last frost date. I started mine in peat pots, so I didnt have to distrub the growth.

Peacock Orchids like to be generously watered up until they begin to bloom, and grow well in full sun.

Plant corms 3 " deep and 6' apart. If you need to store corms, they like to be stored in temps above 60 degrees.

Peacock Orchids are Hardy in zones 8-11, zone 7 with mulch, otherwise, dig and store. Some people grow them as annuals, as they are inexpensive, and a short growing season doesnt always allow the corms to fully form.

Height 18-30"
