Megan I use 10-10-10 granular

Megan I use 10-10-10 granular fertilizer.  Don't put the granulars too close to the base of the okra.  Dale

I've tried to grow okra here

I've tried to grow okra here but without success.  I think the average temperature is  just too cool for it to do well here.

Randy we have a heavy clay

Randy we have a heavy clay base soil in the part of the garden we grow okra.   Even here in SC the ground temp being alot warmer, we plant okra the first part of May.  You could try starting some in grow cubes and be ready to plant once the ground temp is warm enough.   Okra is one of my favorite vegetables.  Dale

My soil is in excellent shape

My soil is in excellent shape as far as friability.  But I don't think our soil warmed up well until about the first of July.  We had a couple of pretty warm days around Memorial Day and I knew they were coming.  I planted corn a couple of days ahead of that and the ground warmed up enough for the corn to germinate and start growing.  But I often have to plant two or three times before I get corn to show.  If the ground isn't warm enough, the seed just rots.

That's Teriffic!

Surprised I know you're so proud of your Okra plant, or do you have more than one? Bet you can hardly wait to pick them. LOL Have you grown Okra before? Are you growing anything else? I can see now you're going to be a good gardener.
