Instant Trellis: Use Any Large Rough-Bark Tree

Here we see the same type plastic wire partly encircling a large pine tree.  This is the "trellis".  The wire is 4 ft. tall, and a large roll.  It's also cheap at WalMart.  Completely surround the tree, vertically,  and attach the wire together with plastic ties.  Each tree that you prepare like this can support any type vine, and really dazzle the eye when viewed to show several trees at once.  I plan to put Trellis Using Plastic Wire on Tree Trunk: Potentially, every tree in your yard can become a trellis.  Imagine the beauty of beautiful Morning Glories climbing up the trellis.

JMG vines on mine!! One that I have to plant is white with pale yellow tube.  I can hardly wait to plant them, and enjoy the blooms!!!

Great Idea!!!

I have received some seeds for vines that seem to do bette rin the shade and while it was suggested to just let them gro w on the ground, i really like this idea.  I am definitely going to do it - may even hit Wal-Mart on my way home!!

I suspect you wouldn't

I suspect you wouldn't necessarily want to do this with something that required full sun, though....It's really neat sounding, and makes me think of ivy that you sometimes see climbing things....same sort of idea, and it looks so natural and as though it was just meant to be there.
