Shenandoah Seasoned: A March Thunderstorm!

Yes we are expecting a thunder storm this afternoon.    I wouldn't say a March Thunderbumper is unusual, but this one would be kinda early in the month.  To be honest I can remeber 1 or 2 thundersnows over the years.  Most definitely those were surprizes.  Can't rightly remember the months they occured in tho.

Yesterday was low 70's and today mid-60s so the stage has been set for this one as the cold front moves in.  They're pretty much calling for a night long of heavy rain following the front.  Maybe even a little chance of flooding.  Let me tell you this rain is welcome.  We've had a dry winter, following a dry falll and late summer.  Last summer's rains were far and few between, but seemed to always come in the nick of time to avert major crop failures.  Yields suffered, but there were few failures.  Our summer rains come from the scattered popcorn variety thrundstorms with hopefully a late season bump from tropical storm rains.  We missed the tropical rains this year.  I don't think I've ever seen so much of the corn crop harvested so early.  For the first time in many years the dove hunters had plenty of harvested corn fields to shoot over.  ( Dove season always comes in the first weekend of September here.)

At anyrate it will pleasant to hear a crack, a peal and rumble again.  Its been a long time.  Another sign that Spring is just around the corner.
