PERSPECTIVE

By: Sillylilly

Perspective is defined by Dictionary.com "as the state of one's ideas, the facts known to one, etc, in having a meaningful relationship." They also define Perspective as "A visible scene, esp. one extending to a distance;"

I begin each day the same, rising out of bed, slipping on a robe, and pouring hot coffee into the same mug, to finally reach the back porch and stare out into the blue abyss otherwise known as sky. I only then begin to wake up slowly with each sip. There are things that happen to each of

us each day that allow us to Perspective: deformed treePerspective: deformed treedevelop perspective in the world that surrounds us. These things could include the people that we befriend, the people we live near; or communities we choose to associate with. Civic duties that we perform or volunteer that also allow us to gain valuable experiences. Some of us gain perspective by what is in our view, as in spatial perspective. Essentially meaning the elements that surround us have effects on us that we do not consciously notice. These elements suggest something to one person but might not have bearing on any other. Many people find peace in the sound of a babbling brook, or the calming effect of a roaring fire. One might begin to wonder if I am asking the age old question; Are you a product of your nature or you're nurturing; however, I am not.

This article is written to ask each and every one of you who takes the time to read it to examine what is compiled in your perspective. Now, let's be clear I'm not asking for a psycho-analytical self evaluation here. I'm saying ..."Hey, what influences you?"

In this same routine I look up into the clear blue sky and see one pine tree that always catches my eye. It reminds me of what influences me the most. I find those little reminders everywhere I go, be it in a song, in a poem, or in planting a seed and watching it grow. I'm sure some of you will see the need for a logger and a good sharp lobber, however, some o f you might just get a glimpse of something that compels many to fight, draw arms, claim salvation, find redemption.

In conclusion I ask you to examine your perspective.

Interesting

Alisha,  I it took me a few moments to grasp what you were saying at the end.  Then I saw it.  As a forester, I saw a tree that had probably ce been surrounded by others in tight, close stand of trees.   I was wondering why it was left by the loggers.  The narrow photo contributes to all 3 perspectives, as we don't see the wider world around  the tree.  I find I am constantly struggling to remove the blinders.

Deep

Really deep and thought provoking.  Beautifully written.  That tree is not deformed.  It was meant to be that way.  It has a purpose.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16
