Very hardy for partial shade.  Forms a tight clump of fanshaped leaves.  Blooms early spring and again off and on until hard frost.  Needs to be kept well fed with 10-30-15.  Draught tolerant once established.  Divide every 3 years. Doesn't develop seeds.

It is a very well behaved violet!  It forms a very tight clump!

In the 3 years since I planted it it has not set any seeds!  This is very unlike the native violets that self-seed all over the place!!

I'll need to dig it up and divide it this year after it finishes blooming
