I haven't

grown crepe myrtle from seeds before, but this summer I had 2 volunteers in containers to pop up. One has grown quite a bit and my daughter is taking them both to plant at her house.

Seed starting

The winter sown site recommends to start them outside in February for your zone, and they will germinate in April. The seeds do best with at least 30-45 days of cold treatment, and germinate best at about 75 degrees. You could also store them in the refrigerator until Feb. or Mar., germinate them in a moist paper towel and start them inside in pots. The seeds take 2-3 weeks to germinate. They're beautiful trees, good luck!
