My new Stella Cherry Tree has sprouted new leaves all over!!!

I had gotten it in the mail from Gurneys last month and planted it only two days before we got a snow/sleet storm. I had covered it the night before the snow with a trash bag - it must have helped.

I was worried the cold snap would damage it so soon after planting. I'm so thrilled to see new growth!!!

Cherry Tree in Bloom

Cherry Tree in Bloom (2008): Cherry Tree with 2 varieties on the tree

A week or two ago, someone asked me to take a photo of our cherry tree in bloom.  This tree started out with four different cherry varieties on it.  It lost one branch the first year it was planted and another branch the second year.  That left it with two remaining varietes, Bing and Lambert.  I don't believe I will ever invest in one of those multi-variety trees again.  They are much more costly than a single variety.  But I have grafted a different apple variety (Gala) onto another apple (Winesap) tree and it has been doing fine for several years now.

Chell, as long as it was

Chell, as long as it was dormant when you planted it out, it should handle the cold temps fine.  Now that it is breaking, you need to be ready to protect it if another cold snap arrives in your area.
