Everyone has seen Spiderwort in bloom along roadsides and meadows. The color ranges from a true blue, to a lavender blue.  In masses they are quite spectacular.  Some sources give the hardiness zone from 9 - 11.  But it is very hardy in zone 8, and probably higher.  It has not been invasive for me, but I've heard that it can be.  This is a picture of my one clump, planted at the base of a pine tree.
