I got some seeds and am going to try to grow this this year.
I wish I had thought to grow my own when I was going thru menopause.
The native indians called it "Squaw Root" and was the only thing a war party would stop for if they saw some growing. LMBO
They would stop and dig it up and take it home with them.

You must take the right dose for your weight
People think that you take the amount on the label but what they do not knwo is all labels on OTC medications and herbals are calibrated for a 150 pound person. If yu weigh more or less you need to adjust the amount youtake. A lot of people say herbs do not work and that is the reason - they are not taking the right dose for their weight
Then you also must only take black cohosh for only about ten days and then not take it for ten days to let it clear out of your liver.
I want to find some milk thistle seeds so I can make it for Ron who has a low functioning liver It helps clear the liver and it also protects agains skin cancers if i remember right.

Milk Thistle
Glenda someone told me about Milk Thistle over eight years ago before I started my chemo theraphy for ovarian cancer. Been taking it every day for all those eight plus years. I didn't know about Milk Thistle, but I did in fact hear about Black Cohosh from a doctor back in around 2001. There IS actually a therapeutic dose, but you have to buy it in the form of something like Remifemin. For one thing, because it's sold as an over the counter (OTC) thing, it has to be approved by the FDA. Since it specifically claims to help treat symptoms of menopause, the company that produces it must have their formula inspected. The point is, when you buy Black Cohosh in a form like this, you are getting something purer and with fewer additives than you'd get from just buying something off the shelves of the vitamin section. I've tried it, and I really thought it helped a lot.
There are all sorts of herbal remedies, some of which have potentially dangerous side effects when mixed with medications. You can always ask your pharmacist whether or not it is safe to take something with the drugs you are taking.
