Melissa they're very easy to grow from a pit, in my experience anyway. I have two and they're both growing well. All I did was put them in some potting mix in a 6" container and away they went. I water them about twice a week and they're thriving. Some folks start them in water but I've never tried that method. If you're growing it indoors plenty of light will be needed as they grow spindly without it. I may even get fruit off it but that'll take up to 10 years with a seedling lol, otherwise it's a lovely tree for my garden, good luck with it.Smile

My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.

Avocado....

Penny,

I have several avocado pit that I have saved. I was wondering if you could explain to me if there is anything special that you need to do to it before planting, etc. or do you just plant them. Because I have been wanting to get one of these growing. Thanks.
