Equus, President Johnson Sounds beautiful

I see lots of early red Amaryllis blooming everywhere, in fact they are already finished here in zone 8.  From the street they seem to be partly double as I can see two layers in the bloom.  I wonder if what I'm seeing is President Johnson?  My only complaint with my Amaryllis is that they don't all bloom together, so that they make a good show.  Appleblossom is already finished, and Red Lion has one large bud.

I found a deal!

Whoo hoo I found a deal at a local nursery. Belladona Amaryllis for $3.29 a bulb! Picture is showing it to be pink I can't wait for it to bloom!! So now I have one white & one pink.

Oh my!

Penny that is just stunning. I had one of those back in Michigan and gave it away and unfortunately it froze on her. I bought a white unnamed one from Lowes' our first winter down here I hope it blooms again for me.

Amaryllis from seed

I am growing coral amaryllis from seeds I got in a trade late last year.  I don't know how long to bloom from seed but I am patient enough to wait.  The seedlings are doing great.

Amaryllis~ Apple Blossom 2007

This photo was taken during the summer of 2007.  I'm in Zone 8, so all my Amaryllises are in the ground year round.  The tops die back in winter, but come out again in spring.  This places them in the perennial category.  As of March 6, 2008 the tops are starting to leaf out.  Time to go feed them too with some of the wonderful Bloom Booster fertilize from GardenHere.
