What's blooming in the Atlantic Ocean....

 Welcome to my corner of the ocean, or the island.

This blog is my effort to record a year of different flowers, both wild and garden beauties, blooming on Block Island, which is 12 mi off the coast of RI..........so, I decided to call it "What's blooming in the Atlantic Ocean"

As everywhere in the north, we are having an explosion of any possible shade of yellow - daffodils are finally in full bloom. Many people find the island today the way it looked a hundred years ago ~ open fields, rock walls, rocky cliffs and serene beaches, and of course, daffodils and rock walls make a wonderful combination.

      Thousands of daffodils in open fileds.  

And I am excited to show them to one of the firends I met on this site - Flwrs, you've got to see it in person, c'mon over!!!

That hummingbird feeder sure is pretty, any chance you changed the sugar water in it ?

More spring blooms

Spring is still here.... tulips said good bye to daffodils and are taking over the island...

Trees are in full bloom. I can finally show off the hummingbird feeder given to me by a dear friend, as the pear tree blooms frame the red and blue glass colors

You can even see the change in planters. Fragrant hyacinths are gone & pansies are making their grand entrance! These pansies survived the winter in my zone 7 with green leaves and even some blooms sometimes. I used a 3 tier planting method to load the planter with daffodils 'Dutch Master', Persian tulips & 'Delft Blue' Hyacinths and then planted pansies. They bloomed all last fall. In the winter I kept the pots in a sunny and wind protected spot by the house, so my pansies did well. In the spring, my spring bulbs came up and really put on a wonderful show. Now the bulbs are done blooming and pansies are in full bloom again. I love this idea - I had continious blooms for 6 months now (with a little break when it was too cold)

Dizzy, lucky you!

Could you send they guy who owns a share of the candy store to RI for a long visit? With all his chocolate samples...or you know, he doesn't even have to bother...he can just mail them to me!

I want cherries dipped in chocolate too! I' never had them before, but my DH makes me strawberries dipped in chocolate when I get too grumpy... Tatyana

Chocolate

These guys are real sweet for the most part & all the other clerks tell me my guys are spoiled rotten - but that's okay, I figure it's job security for me! LOL!!!  They generally keep me laughing too. Working hard, but laughing.

Those dried cherries in chocolate are WONDERFUL!! Flavor of choc/cherries but not as gooey or sweet. YUM!!!!

The guys here at work bring me chocolate when they want something done fast. LOL!  .... some bring the Swiss stuff, some bring the rich dark, some bring Cadbury's, one brings the expensive stuff - like dried cherries dipped in chocolate (I share them with him). And there's one fellow who owns a share of a candy company - he brings me neat new chocolate stuff to try! Like pretzel pieces covered in the best, smoothest white chocolate. Yum!!!!!!!!

I love chocolate SOO much, I am starting a chocolate garden this year...Laughing But I do have to say I really like swiss and russian chocolate...mmmmm !!!! Dizzy, I bet you have ALL those men wrapped around your finger at work...LOL too bad you cant get them to supply you with seeds and plants too...grin.

 

Well, I am going to be seeing these beautiful daffs tomorrow..AND of course Tatyana too..I am looking forward to collecting sea shells, and chatting all night long...I promise to bring some pictures back of the flowers !

I think I did, Smores and others, I still love my russian chocolate....Kym, you should hide under the kitchen table and eat the chocolate all by yourself....that's what I do, when I know DH is getting a sweet tooth again :)

Imagine what she would do then! ....She is actually nice, you just have to send her chocolate! and then take it away, and give it to her daughter...that's what I did....well, it was BEFORE I found out it was KYm's birthday the day before I came to visit her....but, I couldn't take the chocolate away from her daughter....you've got to be nice to children, right?
