Today is Weed Appreciation Day. Find a weed you think you could like. Think of it as a wildflower and see if that helps.

fav weed?

I just know that you are losing your mind Susann! (not yet ,but getting close)

What's my fav weed?

Hmmmmmm I never thought that I had one before now,I have always just yanked them out and bagged em up for the garbage!

As for dandelions,I eat them so they just couldn't be a weed!1 Oh and Poke Salad!(This just can't be a weed) I love it after I boil and toss the water and then boil again and toss the water, then I scramble them up with eggs! Yum !! (they (poke salad)are just starting to come up now,be sure and get the baby leaves!)Oh and the red berries they make are great dye for anything ya want to be red! But,don't eat them!

Well,I guess my "Fav Weed" would have to be "The Sensitive Plant"!!

Oh Those beautiful pink blooms, and the way when you touch the leaves they fold up.

Oh no,does this mean I'm losing my mind too? Oh my move over Susann make room for me too!

LOL

By the way ,what's you fav weed Susann??

I love

dandelions...made into salad! We also have a plant in CA that we used to call sourgrass that is the first thing to flower in the Spring. The leaves look like clover and the single bell shaped .flower is held on a 12 inch stem. Very pretty for a weed. Now who has Black Forest cake......?

Careful with Poke!

Poke weed is very poisonous.... all parts!  Those that eat it have to boil and rinse it multiple times to cleanse it and use only emerging foliage.  Unless you have experience with it, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole (as far as eating it goes)

Hmmmm....

Treeman, you are right.  Poke weed is poison, but not if you know how to prepare it.  My mother always picked poke as long as there were any new shoots.  She parboiled it once, and drained it.  Then cooked it like any other greens.  We ate it like spinach, or like Deb, scrambled in eggs.  I love it, and have it on my place, but let it get too large to pick this  year. Fav weed?

Perhaps it be Mullien or maybe ditch lilies (tiger Lilies).  I like the exclamation mark that mullien makes, and well, when the ditch daylilies are in bloom around here they do make the road sides very attractive.

SandiB how well I

SandiB how well I remember.  I am telling my age but I was born in 1949.  First time I heard the song and knew what the song was saying couldn't believe the song.  That goes to show you a song can be song about anything.  HeHeHe.  Dale

I remember my Dad used to

I remember my Dad used to pick poke salad and eat it after cooking.  I can't remember if I ever tried it though.  I probably didn't unless I was made to.

I have to admit, I

I have to admit, I had a huge dandelion in my vege garden last spring...the thing was like a bush!... well, I just had to see it bloom.  It turned out a real pretty yellow bouquet, huge flowers... you couldn't tell it was a danelion from a distance.  I don't think I'd like a whole border or anything... but, it wasn't a bad looking display! Smile

Leave it to you Dizzy... reminding us to appreciate all things beautiful! Laughing

Well...

I know that there are several that I don't like but I guess if I had to pick one I guess it would have be a dandelion.
