Update to Posting Captions with Photos

There seem to be some confusion in posting the caption to the photo images in the Photo Gallery.  We would like the common name of the plant followed by a comma and the cultivar name.

Example:  Daylily, 'Always Afternoon'

If you know the botanical name of a plant put in the body of the post or put in parentheses in the caption.  But try to  limit the caption to 3 at most 5 words to help with the search engines.

Some captions would only have the common name and the botanical name.

Example:   Japanese aucba (Aucuba japonica)

would be an appropriate caption for the shrub Aucuba.   Note the second word of the scientific or botanical name is not captiolized.

If you are posting an image of a plant and you know the common name and not the cultivar here is an example to follow.

Example: Asiatic Lily

We are trying to get unformity in all the captions so you would capitolize the main words (with exceptions) in your captions and try to leave off a and an the.  Often those pronouns can be eliminated not change the value of the post.  I know it will be hard to keep the caption to 3 to 5 words but please do so when it whenever possible.

If you need help with anything that pertains to the Photo Gallery please contact me.  That is what I am here for.  This is a learning process and hopefully our photo team will continue to improve our skills when editing the photo gallery.

We will edit captions in the photo gallery when necessary and may private message a member if we have a particular question.
