Looks like Mesquite
I just love the trunks which branch out like strong arms up to the sky.
Mesquite trees can take up nearby surface water or run a taproot up to about 190 feet to an underground aquafier. You see many of them in the Southwest, and especially large specimens near rivers and creeks. In Texas, NM & AZ most of the mesquites will probably be Honey Mesquite. I have some great photos of some on the Gila River in AZ. Have to find those sometime.
Cattle and many wildlife species - including deer, coyotes, javelina, feral hogs, rodents, and rabbits consume the seeds which are high in sugars & distribute them all over.

Neat
Lynpenny, yes the Southwest has some ethereal trees. I'm not sure what those would be, but maybe some of our other Texans can help us.
