They Say ,"The Best Things in Life are Free"

They say the best things in life are free and I have to agree with whoever "they" are.  Monday, yesterday, was a good example of that.  My husband and I had several errands uptown.  We started off with at the Flowers Bread store.   The manager there gave me a 24 pack of the sesame seed jumbo hamburger buns like used for a Burger King Whopper.   Tueday all senior citizens get a free loaf of fresh bread.  I was on that side of town and wouldn't be back on Tuesday.  I told her that was my senior citizen gift for the week since I wasn't going to be back on Tuesday.  That was a good way to start the day.

My husband was getting another piece of equipment from Altman Tractor company, the local NewHolland dealer here in Florence S.C..   When we finished our purchase, usually the manager will give my husband a couple of baseball caps.   There's not much "woman" stuff offered at a place like that.   But yesterday was different.

When we walked into the lobby near the parts counter there was something that caught my eye and I wanted.  The description said it was a 24" steel thermometer.   On the top of the thermometer title was Ford Thermometer.   On the thermometer were examples of the different tractor series until the name of the tractors changed to NewHolland.   My husband has had several of those and his dad had some of the models that was on the thermometer.

Told Johnny, the manager he had something I wanted, I wanted that Ford Thermometer and he said sure.  Mentioned  to the manager about our online gardening group, GardenHere.   Told him I couldn't wait to tell GH about my freebie from  our local tractor company.

When we got home from all our errands, I checked the mail and much to my delight I had received four different kinds of heirloom wateremelon seedsfrom a generous donor.  Saturday is a good planting day so Saturday we will get those seeds in the ground.

Last but not least, we went to mail some packages off to several GH members.  My cell phone rang and the lady that I barter flowers for seeds was calling.   I recently traded her some of my heirloom vegetable seeds for a flat of mixed color gazanias.  She had purchased two bushels of fresh garden peas, wanted to share with me and wouldn't accept any payment in return.

I have to agree, with the saying, 'The best things in life are free".  Monday definitley proved that saying.  I just wonder what today will bring forth.
