confused about hibiscus seed

After reading these Trade list there are so many seed that I have thrown away... The question I have about Hibiscus is, do you leave the pod on the plant until it turns yellow and cut? I always cut them green and threw them away. Can you grow oleander from seed, if so when do you harvest them ? I have tried to plant Mimosa seed but not luck...do I leave them on the tree until they turn brown ? Thanks for any info you might could send this way.... sweet mammy

Mimosa Tree

You leave the seeds on the tree until they turn brown then harvest them and they will grow new trees from seeds. I have 1 mimosa tree and I have new ones come up from the seeds that fall on the ground.

Plants/cuttings for trade

Hey girl, I would love the jewels of opar if you still have it and climbing rose cuttings. Do you have anything else that would be perennial (not tropical) that I can put in the ground and forget it? I have 2 plant houses which are full in the winter so don't have much room for things that have to go in for the winter. I can do cuttings of several color bougainvillea and I have red shrimp plants and bat face cuphea plant. I have lots of seeds but would rather trade plants and cuttings. How do you send cuttings? I have received some just wrapped in wet paper towels and some are moist with root powder on them.

Would you like Red Maple Leaf Hibiscus rooted cuttings?

Teri, I thought I recalled that you were looking for hibiscus. Do you have Red Maple Leaf Hibiscus? It's also called African Mallow. It's really interesting looking and will be unlike anything you've ever had because it is a fall and winter bloomer. It is most definitely a tropical hibiscus since it comes from Africa. I have one and am trying to root some cuttings of it. I have one tiny one rooted so far, but I'm working on rooting many more. If you're interested, I'd love to trade some brug cuttings for those hibiscus cuttings. I was also hoping I could give you a black EE pup...I'm working on that too. Don't know how successful I'd be. I'm particularly interested in Inca Sun because I've read that it will bloom when it's quite small -- compared to others. I'm leaving town Tuesday the 30th and won't be back until the 16th of October. Hopefully by then, I'll have a slew of rooted cuttings -- provided my husband takes care of them. If he doesn't, he'll be in trouble (hehehe.) Check these links out: http://toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/Hibiscus_acetosella.htm http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/63750/
