Melissa, I always wondered

Melissa, I always wondered about those digitizing programs, if they would actually work. Could you give me a name for the program you bought, please. I'd like to look into it, but again...it might take me awhile before I start another cross stitch project. Too many ideas, not enough patience (sometimes) CryTatyana

Here you go....

It is called PM Stitch Creator by STOIK Imaging and there is also PCStitch 7. I have both but I like the PM Sttich Creator better, but the PCStitch is a lot cheaper money wise. The PM Stitch Creator allows you to do a lot more and change stitch colors, styles, etc.

What a neat project!

That's a fabulous project! All that detail work must have required a ton of patience. I'm sure your mom will treasure it!

Melissa, how did you turn a picture of your grandparents into a cross stitch pattern? Did the colors and outline come pretty close to a live photograph? Tatyana

Picture to cross stitch....

Well I purchased a program (about $100) that will take any picture and turn it into a cross stitch. They look so much alike that my grandmother has then sitting side by side each other so that everyone can see them together. The colors were almost exactly like the ones in the picture.

Cross Stitch..

Thanks a lot.

Well it took me about 3 1/2 months to finish this one but I have a little one running around (he will be 2 in May) and I am taking a home course.

When I was pregnant I did a cross stitch of a picture of my grandparents and gave it to my grandmother (my grandfather is deceased) for her birthday when she turned 89. I took me about 6 months to complete that one. It was a 8 1/2 x 11 picture with solid stitches.

Then I did a little marriage plaque for my cousin when he got married and then I have just done a few odds and ends stuff.

That is beautiful, I know

That is beautiful, I know your Mom will cherish it.  I don't have the patience to take on that kind of project anymore.  Dale

Congratulations on the ribbon and your patience!!!

how long did it take you to finish it? I love to cross stitch myself, but every small project takes me years... Last time we went to Russia, I bought 3 kits, that are supposed to make 3 scenes/panels of St. Petersburg/Russia. It's wool and rough canvas, just white, beige and brown. I love the idea, but can't make myself sit down long enough.

This is a gorgeous piece! What other cross stitch prjects did you finish in the last few years? I made horses (waves shaped like horses) coming out of the ocean - it took 3 years! and I'm still framing it, well, it's in the closet. Tatyana
