Some of the seedlings below the main bush were different when they bloomed. They were very pretty as well, but they were different colors. So I am guessing it does not come true from seed. I would also have no way of knowing what I would be sending because the ones big enough to bloom are pretty much impossible of getting out of the ground! So they would need to be smaller plants and color might be a big ???! If you would like to try though, let me know!
Oh and I don't have any seeds. I can collect some when it is time, but you'll need to tell me when that is! They don't ripen till towards sping??? Or am I wrong?

The old bloom leaves the seed pod in its place. It is a brown burr-like thing, and the seeds are inside.

I love them also. I have quite a few of them, many haven't bloomed yet though. Maybe next year! 4 were from our dear Gloria for Gram's memorial garden. They are planted in a temporary home till I get that going in the spring since I have alot of seed for it. Then I have 3 from Gram, one I bought and 1 from Mom(not sure if this one is going to make it:(... Will be so nice when they are all larger and blooming their hearts out!

Here you are able to see the "cotton boll" shaped seed pod of ROS which has already opened. The seeds are plainly visible. Taken Aug 27, '08
Rose of Sharon Open Seed Pod: If you're looking for where the ROS seeds are, this is where to look. They appear in clusters, and ripen based on when that particular bud bloomed.

I second that hint, maw! I wonder though, whether this is a true color, or whether it could be some hybrid from cross pollination or something. I sure would like to have that though! HINT HINT!
Thank you Maw! I will check
