in my garden under a 60' atlantic spruce and next to a hydrangea tree surounded by hostas sits a stump. The stump has been cut from a special pine tree that died in my yard and now serves as the bench in my little stress relief spot!

Here's my second best sacred space!

Peace and quiet to sit and read the newspaper, or go through my gardening books and catalogs, with a large mug of tea!!

Relaxing Garden

My whole garden is my relaxing spot as long as I can get outside and play in some dirt and plant lovely new flowers and plants that relaxes me so I can enjoy all the blooms later.

When I was a kid

When I was a very young child, we had a wheeping willow in the side yard whose branches hung to the ground all the way around.  The way pop kept it pruned, it kinda looked like a big mushroom.  Anyway, you slip thriugh the willow switches and once inside you had the total feeling of being isolated and alone.  I think I spent many hours in the "room" playing with my trucks and such.

We have a large holly on the

We have a large holly on the west side of the house right next to the pasture fence and it has a hollow space under it like that.  The grandkids fixed it up as their secret hideaway, but I think they have abandoned it now as they are quite a bit older now.

We are very fortunate to

We are very fortunate to have at least three spots that lend themselves nicely to relaxation, reading, or deep thought.  I built a gazebo a couple of years ago on the west side of our house.  We are on a road that doesn't see a lot of traffic, so it's a nice place to sit and have a cup of tea alone or with someone special.  In the back yard, we have a very old apple tree that offers shade, a place to sit and birds to cheer you up.  The pasture is right there on the other side of the back fence too, and generally Duke (the horse) is out there in the pasture or the goats are out there.  The third spot is the one that I use the most and it happens to be the furthest from the house.  We have a small orchard on the southeast corner of the property and a large pear tree on the northwest corner of the orchard.  I keep a couple of chairs out there under the pear tree so I can rest a spell while working in the garden or in case a neighbor stops by to chat.
