When these plants with very heavy and coarse foliage appeared in my garden, I unprepared for it. As always, I forget to label what I plant where! But it looked like something that may make a flower so I left it. It continued to grow, and soon oval balls were hanging off it on all sides. Surely it is a flower. One morning I found a pleasant surprise when I found the lovely red bloom and later identified it as a Corn or Flanders Poppy. This picture will help give you an idea of poppy foliage should you be unfamiliar with it.
