Prairie Verbena, Raider Amethyst,  is a wildflower growing over a wide range of western and southern states.  It has a low, sprawling type growth habit, and is drought tolerant.  It re-seeds itself freely, and with age, develops a woody stem forming large masses of the plant.   It is a perennial.
