Fish Aquarium Planter: This is an old fish aquarium I used for a planter for several types of Amarillyus bulbs. I used rocks and stone on the bottom layer. I left some charcoal mixed in with the rocks and stone. I added miracle grow potting soil and planted my       bulbs. FOUND AN OLD FISH AQUARIUM IN GREAT SHAPE THAT I AM GOING TO USE TO MAKE A BEAUTIFUL PLANT GARDEN OUT OF IT WITH THE COLOR STONES AND PUT SEVERAL KINDS OF PLANTS IN FOR A PRETTY HOUSE GARDEN.   PENNY2638

Neat Idea!

Penny, that's a neat idea recycling an aquarium!  It will be so pretty!  Are you layering the stones below the soil?  Amaryllis would be great since they don't like much soil depth around the bulb anyway!  Please post a picture!  Wink

When I made one of these I

When I made one of these I found that because of no drainage that a small amount of charcoal helps keep the soil sweet. You might want to check into using some in your new house garden. I think when we use to make terrariums we always used aquarium charcoal.
