Newbie from St. Louis - HI
I just wanted to say hello.
I am new to the forum, and new to gardening. No green thumb here!
I have lived in my house for 7 years, and never got around to doing anything
on the outside. We built it ourselves, therefore there is no gardening what so ever
at this point. We have 2 uphill useable acres that I'd like to begin
working on. We are in zone 6.
My husband and I have been married for almost 13 yrs, and we have an 11 yr old son
and 8 yo daughter. We live 20 minutes south of Downtown St. Louis in Imperial.
I bit of countryside I guess. We own 6 acres which is mostly wooded in the back.
I don't have anything to trade yet, but I hope to get lots of help and advise
from the pros out there.
Thanks for letting me join.
Kim

Welcome
Kim!
Kim Hello and welcome to GardenHere the friendliest garden site on the net!
I know this to be a fact, because when I joined almost 2 years ago I had a blank canvas to work with. Not to mention I live 542 feet up a hillside!
I have been working on making it pretty with the help of my new found garden friends right from here!
I was able to get seeds, and plants for postage and that really helped me.
You can go on over to the
Start Trading Now area and make your lists up .Then it will end up in the
Trade List Forum so we can get an idea of what you might want to add to your new flower beds!
If you ever need anything just give me or any other Sr.Forum Leader or Forum Leaders a holler and we will be so glad to help you in any way you need!
Have fun on Garden Here and make lots of new gardening buddies!

A Midwestern Welcome!
Here's another welcome from a former neighbor to the north of you (Iowa AND Illinois!) I'm not new to gardening. I guess I've been gardening big time for about 26 years, but I've been into gardening for 35 or 36 years. I don't know what kind of conditions you have to plant in or whether you have sun or shade, but I am pretty sure that you'll discover that the rewards of gardening are really immense. If you decide to grow your own food, nothing will ever taste as good as what you pick fresh.
I'm glad you joined the site. Please feel free to ask any of the forum leaders or area team leaders or myself for help! We're a friendly bunch and we are always eager to help a newbie!

Welcome!
Glad you found us! You will find all kinds of neat ideas for hills on this site. I just did a three tier raised flower bed from stone a little time back. This may be something you would like to try. It really gives the space some organization and curb appeal.Plus, it acts like steps and lets you walk up and down the hill without tripping. Welcome and good luck!

Welcome to GardenHere Kim!
I'm originally from Illinois! I was born and raised in Chicago, but lived in Iowa for 22 years. That's where I met my DH! We've only been married for just over 3 1/2 years. I'm not new to gardening! I've been gardening for 25+ years. I can honestly say that there aren't many plants I don't love.
Let us know what kind of conditions you have, e.g. sun, shade, and so forth. If you have a Lowes or other gardening center nearby, you may want to invest in a soil testing kit before you begin to plant anything. That will give you an idea of what you need to add to the soil to improve it or what kind of soil you have to work with. Once you've done that, then you can go from there.
I would also recommend that you start composting. That will give you some wonderful organic matter that you can add to your soil, regardless of whether it needs amending or not!

Welcome to GardenHere, Kim!!
We're all glad when someone new signs up to become a member here. You'll love every single bit of it. We have a brand new site, with so many wonderful features!! My name is Annette, and I'm from Louisiana zone 8. Around here, I'm known as maw.
I've always done fairly traditional gardening, but last year I branched off and put in a lot of tropical plants. I'm excited about watching them come back from winter dormancy, and grow.
What are your favorite plants?
