Jo, here's a Cholesterol Tracker. I'd download it and save it to your computer, but you can print it, too!

HOLY SMOKES!
Holy Smokes, Jo! You're not talking about BAD cholesterol, you're talking about TERRIBLE!
Ask your doctor to send you to a prediabetes class. You need to learn about portions, about what will raise your blood sugar and all that stuff. My hubby's doctor sent us when his triglycerides were really high! I learned a LOT there!

Vegetables
Jo You can have squash, green beans, collards, turnips, lettuce, broccoli, asparagus, beets, carrots, cabbage, leaks, cucumber, bell pepper, onions, and radish. Hope this helps you some. If will can eat these you will be ok with your sugar and cholestrol also. Just don't put alot of salt on anything you eat also.
You can also have meats such as baked chicken, broiled fish, and remove all skins from chicken and fish before cooking.

Trans Fats!
Jo, you need to stay away from trans fats especially. Don't eat so much red meat. We've been eating a lot of chicken and pork. My hubby doesn't like fish unless it's fried, and that's really bad. You can eat lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables; in fact, the more colorful, the better. Don't use bacon fat for cooking. Don't use Crisco, OR most margerines. Butter isn't too great either. How much do you have to lower your cholesterol?
Brown rice is better than white rice. Avoid white flour and processed stuff. Read labels whenever you are at the store. It's not just sugar that is bad for you. It's foods that are made from simple carbohydrates such as white flower, noodles, white rice, that sort of thing. Use olive oil when you can.
The best advice I can give you is to NOT fry stuff. If you grill it, bake it or broil it, you'll remove all the bad stuff that contains the cholesterol!

Fried foods
is a no, no Jo. If you can follow what Peeny gave you and bake and broil your meat, whole grain cereal and breads, 2% or less milk. Watch your egg yolks also. You will be able to bring your numbers down. When cooking your beans and greens use smoked turkey instead of salt pork.

I think
mine was close to what Dale's is now if not higher, Dale. I changed my eating habits really fast because so many on my father's side are diabetic. I was pre-diabetic per my Internist. I worked really hard and the next year it had gone way down. I would have to look at my lab's to see the numbers for sure. My problem now is I don't eat enough. I am eating once a day because of my stomach problems. I will see the gastro doctor Thursday.
I am with you Jo, I need to eat better myself. I will go on the diet with you.
