Today is Saturday March 29, 2008.  It began like any other mundane Saturday.  Being retired my husband and I have a routine.   Today was already planned out.

Took a friend some confederate rose plants I had because of redoing the bed adjacent to the vegetable garden.   My husband was excited because every spring Moseley Power Equipment Co. here in Florence SC has factory representatives from Kubota, Echo, and Husqvarna for a day of fun for the entire family.  He is like any other man when he gets around men talking and demo'ing "man toys".

When we got there we started off eating a hot dog and drinking a Diet Coke.  Went inside the building and proceeded to eat cotton candy and pop corn.  That's the reason I tagged along.  Got to look at all the new factory equipment and socialize like we do every year.  We registered for the drawing of four separate power equipment items.  An Echo leaf blower, an Echo string trimmer, a backpack sprayer, and Husqvarna lawnmower.  We both registered for our chance to win.  We ended up buying a Stihl loper for me to use to trim some branches from some trees in our yard.  We have lopers but these were so light weight, easy enough for  me to use.

We had other errands at Lowes and the grocery store.  Finally headed home.  Had two packages on the front door.  One was a surprise, didn't know it was coming.  My dear sister had sent us a wireless rain gauge and thermometer.  She knows how my husband loves a new gadget.  We had hardly gotten settled in our recliners when the phone rang.  We have caller ID, it was Moseley Power Equipment Co..  My husband's name was drawn and the first to be called so he got his choice and decided on the Husqvarna lawnmower.   We were excited.  It's always nice to get a gift, the store was closed so we need to pickup the prize on Monday.

We went out to supper at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.  The prime rib was good as usual.  I had printed out the information for the SEEDS FOR SOLDIERS.  Made the presentation to the Post Commander and he agreed to collect seeds at the VFW and also the Ladies Auxiliary will collect seeds as well.  The post will be a drop off location for the seeds.  During this time a VFW member agreed to donate $500.00 for me to buy seeds to help with the project.

Just got home from a long exciting day.  Reminscing about how my mundane Saturday, how it became such an extraordinary day.  Doesn't get any better than this.   Dale

Good idea Dale

Contacting the seed companies direct is a good idea Dale.  Ask them to contribute some free seeds also to such a good cause. Try Lowes & Home Depot to find out when the vendors will be in and talk w/them also.

Be great if you could get as many donated as you purchase!

Good luck Dale

My volunteer group AT&T

My volunteer group AT&T Telecom Pioneers here in Florence SC has cornered the market on most all of the 10 cent 20 cent and 25 cent seeds.  I didn't know until this week when we were shopping at Tractor Supply that they had Sow 'n Grow seeds a special promotion from Ferry Morse 5 packs for $1.  Family Dollar and Dollar General has 25 cents seeds and Dollar Tree has seeds for 10 for $1.  I am going to contact several of the seeds companies directly tomorrow to see what kind of deals they have.  Any one have any ideas?  Dale

what about contacting...

I wonder if you contacted Burpee, if they would give you a good deal, or even match what you order....I would think it would be worth sending out some emails with the info on the reason why you want them, and I would think someone would step up and help you.

Good luck

Connie if you like cotton

Connie if you like cotton candy try eating popcorn along with it.  The sweet of the sugar and the salt in the popcorn is a winning combination.  Dale

Wes my husband said to tell

Wes my husband said to tell you that is once in a lifetime.  How soon we forget.  Back in the '80's I won a 18' ft. inboard/outboard ski boat with drive on trailer.   I bought 5 $1.00 tickets and my winning ticket was one of over 78,000 tickets sold.  Dale

Great day Dale

The only thing I could think of to top off the day would be a big bowl of ice cream.
