Description

My mother worked at the school cafeteria for over 40 years and this is one of my favorites she used to make

Ingredients

  • 1 1⁄2 c softened butter
  • 2 c sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 c flour
  • 5 t baking powder
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 T vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl and set aside. Cream butter and sugar on medium high until fluffy about 5 minutes. Add eggs one at time mixing well after each. Add your dry ingredients until mixed. Add vanilla. Pour onto floured waxed paper and roll into a log. Chill until set then cut into 1/2 inch slices and bake for about 12 minutes until light browned on a greased cookie sheet. You may also drop by tablespoons if in a hurry.

Notes

My first cousins visited us in the summer and they loved these cookies also.

Pretty Good Grannyrose

As I have mentioned before - cookies have not been my thing - I make good bread, cakes but cookies - just not up to par - well I have found the cookies I definitely can make. They were good, and I put some orange, yellow, brown sprinkles on some and took to Bro Dave's Halloween party yesterday - they were a great hit - this recipe will be found in my old recipe for my grandchildren. Thanks

It is almost like a teacake

It is almost like a teacake Maw, soft and good.  I love them with coffee or milk.  I couldn't wait till my mom made these.  Her recipe is for a large amount so I had to break it down, the sugar and flour was in quarts.  I finally got it right.  I have her roll recipe also.  I will post it later and my teacake recipe.  In fact I will be making teacakes today. Do you have a recipe for teacakes?  If so will you pm me yours.  Grannyrose
