It's time to get the low down on our new recipe area and to load up on new recipes contributed by our members.

Our new recipe area is ready for heavy-duty use and just in time for the up-coming holiday season.  Cooks, chefs and kitchen helpers are sure to benefit from this segmented area.  It doesn't matter if you are an old hand at making stew or meatloaf out of leftovers or if you're just learning how to turn on the stove, this area is a 'must-visit' for all members and visitors.

For those of you who are like me who love the kitchen aromas and can't wait for dessert, but are clueless in the kitchen, this area is like a gourmet menu.  Our recipe area is where I browse just to see what looks good and then pass along the mouth-watering instructions to someone who knows what to do.  There's nothing like a healthy appetite to make a cook happy.  Fortunately, a good cook with a great recipe also pleases a healthy appetite.

The entrance to our new organized recipe area is located under the 'Featured Areas' menu.  If you click on the main 'Recipe' link you will be taken to a long page full of all the recipes contributed by our members.  These pallet pleasers are grouped by type of recipe, such as appetizer, beverage, soups and consumes, along with several other groups.

Each group is organized with the most recent recipe in each list located at the top of the section and the name of the contributing member is listed next to each recipe.  To see the full ingredients and instructions on how to prepare a particular dish or beverage, simply click on the recipe.  If you want even more information about the recipe, click on the contributing member's name and send them a quick message.

There is something for everyone in our hot new recipe area.  There's even a section just for vegetarians and more sections can be added, when requested by a member. (I always thought it might be nice to have a low-carb or sodium-free or an outdoor cooking section, but frankly my expertise leans toward eating and not cooking so I won't make such a hefty decision on my own.)

If you are one of our more impatient browsers, simply hover your mouse pointer over 'Recipes' in the  'Featured Areas' menu to see a pop-out list of each recipe section.  Then select the area you want to view.  When you click on the selected section title, you will immedately be taken to a complete list of all the scrumptious recipes in that section.  Here, the page layout includes more information about each recipe to help you decide which one appeals to you the most.  When you find a recipe you like, simply click on the title of that recipe or select the 'Read more' link below the teaser paragraph, to view the ingredients, instructions and portions calculator to help you plan for the number of guests or family you are going to serve.

So it makes little difference if you're the cook or the appetite, this newly updated area is quite the cat's meow.  If you really like a particular recipe, be sure to add a comment or two from your guests.  If you discover a recipe is incomplete, don't be afraid to write the contributing member and ask him/her to edit and update the recipe for all of us to enjoy.  By all means, earn yourself a point or two and at least vote for the recipes you like.

For members who are experienced kitchen queens or kings, be a gem and add a couple of your own favorite recipes.

Love good food and new ideas

Hope the Recipe area continues to grow. Remember reading somewhere on here about typing on notepad instead of microsoft word to copy and paste to the recipe site. Is this correct. Goodness I can smell the food already, I will be contributing in near future. Perhaps eventually there will be a Garden Here Cookbook.

I couldn't begin to count the number of recipes that people have posted here that I've printed and used. Our menus would be so boring if it weren't for the ideas that I've gotten from all my friends here. Thanks to everyone who has contributed fabulous recipes!

Do you think Random House would publish it if we had enough people wanting to buy it? hehehe

Recipes....

Are we still considering taking the recipes and turning them all into a cookbook to sell to benefit the site?

Woo Hoo!

This recipe section is FABULOUS! I've used it many times...printed recipes, altered the quantities -- because the system does it for me! It's easy to use. If you have any problem with quantities in the ingredients, try using decimals for the quantities. Instead of trying to post 1/2 cup, post .50 cup and it will look like 1/2 cup when it comes up. This is so cool, Al! Thank you so much for creating this section. We have so many great recipes that we can use around Christmas time...I think I may have to join a hard core gym way in advance so that I can work off those delicious recipes.
