Is it Spring Yet?

Well, here it is April 5 and I finally was able to run around with just a light sweater.  Wow! I thought that would never happen, that I might go from winter directley into summer.  Everything here is coming around late, but that's ok as long as it gets here.  Now if only it would hold off on the rain and dry up so I could get out in the yard to start some work.  I bought some seed and potting soil for my seed starting program today.  I plan to try my hand at it this year.

With the price of food so high I want to plant plenty of veggies this year.  Around here the plants have been going up in price a lot too, so I thought well start some of my own seeds.  That's where trading and help from other members has helped me.

I have lived here now going on 2 years and am looking forward to seeing what has made it through the first winter .  Stuff I planted last summer.  Oh it wouldn't be such a big deal I guess, but there was nothing here when I bought the place.  My one big problem is it's all heavy clay.  My husband had to dig up some planting holes with a spud bar LOL !!!!!  I need tons of good dirt to replace all the clay.  I have started a compost pile but that takes time to develop too. Every year is a new experience and I'm looking so forward to this spring and summer.

We love to go fishing for Crappie and Walleye.  We now live near a lake and plan to spend many hours fishing.  I'm about an hour drive from Lake Erie, but I get sea sick so I plan to stay near home .  I live in Trumbull Co. Ohio,  my zone is 5/6 and probably my very favorite plants are roses, although I don't have much luck with them.  Maybe that's because I'm a lazy gardner.
