Rhode Island Red ChickensYesterday when I was planning the menu for Sunday lunch, decided on my Southern Fried Chicken.  I had creamed summer squash and whole string beans and new potatoes left from lunch on Saturday, so the rest should be easy.

I was looking for the easy way out for lunch because we worked in my flower beds and vegetable garden all day yesterday stopping to rest a few times of course.  The older I get the more breaks I tend to take while I work.

Well let me get to the title of my story.  I was reading what today is and low and behold it is "International Respect of Chickens Day", a day to stick up for the chickens.  I am all for supporting good causes but I can't in good conscious stick up for the chickens when I love to eat chicken anyway you want to fix it. 

So today while I am eating my Southern Fried Chicken, I will remember that it's the "International Respect of Chickens Day".  Sorry to say I am not going to feel guilty while eating my Southern Fried Chicken.   Well, maybe just a twinge of guilt.  Why couldn't today have been Interantional Fried Chicken Day instead.  If anyone knows of a day to honor fried chicken please let me know and that will be one day I will definitely participate.
