I'm back - sorry for such a long absence

I don't know if anyone remembers me, but there are a few people who were very kind to me last fall, and I'd just like to say thank you to them, Thorne, Treva, and Coco.... I had asked for a few seeds to help me redo my yard at my new house...I still have quite a few left.. they sent millions!!! I'm so excited to see them all grow... I started some of them this year, but we moved here fall of last year and the yard was a disaster, but I've managed to rescue the lawn back from the thistles, and have created a nice large flower garden and a vegetable garden. I've had a hard time fighting weed and grass in both, so wasn't very successful this year. I plan to give it a good workup this fall, then mulch next year to keep the weeds down. HOPEFULLY I'll do better next year! I focused a lot on the hardscaping this year, adding a fence and trellis and rock border. Anyway enough of this blathering!! I'm about to add a trade list if anyone is interested.

Thanks, and hopefully I'll have time to get on here a lot more often now... The cucumbers, beans, peas, tomatoes, apples, zucchini, beets, etc, etc, are all picked and dealt with finally!

Thanks for the support

Thanks to everyone's encouragement..it's not really even the weeds that I'm struggling with... I had to rescue the flower beds from quackgrass as thick as a lawn, and it is very stubborn... the weeds I don't mind so much and expect I will never truly be rid of, but the grass is awful!!! It is a million times better this fall than it was this spring, so I'm hoping that next year will yield more improvements as well... Randy, I fertilize with horse manure as well, and the weeds will always be there, but the benefits of the fertilizer make it worth it!!! -Kermit

That's true.  My garden

That's true.  My garden really did well this year except for the tomatoes.  I'm finally getting some ripe ones now, but we can have frost at any time now too.  Well, it's probably a bit early for frost, but the temperatures are pretty cool and I don't expect to see many ripe tomatoes.  I'm not complaining though.

Kermit

I remember you and am so glad you found your way back to us.

I remember you, Kermit. It's

I remember you, Kermit. It's good to see you back with us. Sorry you had a bad start with weeds this year. "New ground" is always a struggle to get conditioned but once you get it to participate, it's worth the effort. Next year should be better for you. Hope to see you around GH alot more now...welcome back.

I remember you too, Kermit.

I remember you too, Kermit.  I don't want to disillusion you though, but I have weeds every year.  My neighbor tells me though that it is because I use horse manure in the garden.  I think I would have weeds though even if I didn't use the horse manure.

I remember you as well.  Welcome back to the new and improved GH!  We've missed you and I can't wait to get all caught up with you.
