I plant host plants for butterflies to lay their eggs and I get lots of them during the summer. I plant zinnias, lantana, butterfly weed, butterfly bushes, marigolds and lots of other plants they like. I would like to attract more hummingbirds to my garden. I only get one or two each year, but have many plants they like. We just don't see that many in our area. Annette

 Randy, at least you have the assurance that you know what's going into the food they are eating, and that it's really healthier for them! I am that way about most prepared stuff. It just doesn't cut it for me! Even if cooking something involves a lot of labor, I rather be able to tailor it to my needs and use good ingredients than resort to prepared stuff. This is something my husband still doesn't understand. I guess I can blame it on my mother. Even back in the 1970's and earlier, she sent me to school with sandwiches on whole grain bread. People laughed at me and made fun of me, but I always had a healthy lunch!

That's a good habit to get into. I like that bread too. I just put some sourdough rolls together upstairs and they are sitting there rising now. I probably will bake them after dinner since one of the ladies of the house will probably need the oven pretty quick for fixing supper. I'll tell you something though, Miss Susan. You should smell this kitchen when those things are baking. I always have to have one or two with some butter on them when they are fresh out of the oven.

I just found that last post and it still had the "new" tag on it and it was dated on the 11th. It must have gotten lost in the shuffle someplace. LOL

No, can't do that.  My sister has got after me about the apple butter.  But when you start doing that sort of thing for money, it takes all the fun out of it.  I finally finished off that jar of store-bought Marionberry jam yesterday.  The kids helped for awhile, then one of them brought up a jar of strawberry jam.  From that point on, they wouldn't touch the other stuff.  My grandkids are so spoiled.  But it's my fault and I don't care.  LOL

Randy, it's been nearly 2 weeks since anyone spoke to her! Mawnature, Gloria and YourGrace have all tried to reach her by phone, to no avail! I can't help but feel worried sick! I love that little lady! She's so inspiring and so wonderful!
