The hummingbird moth is also known as the Sphinx Moth.  They are much larger than a butterfly, and do resemble a hummingbird that is furry.  This particular moth can be seen most often at dusk, flying to each flower, in turn, to get the sweet nectar, and  pollinate them.  Their color is usually two shades of soft brown on the body.  The wings are decorated with white lines, and a spot of rose color which make them quite colorful.  It's outer covering is called 'scales', but looks soft and furry.  Like any other "garden helper", we try to protect this moth at all times.
