When feeding, hummers enjoy sampling the nectar from each of 'flowers' on the feeder.  Here, Ms. Rubythroat can be seen flying between two feeding places. Hummingbird Feeding

A little girl hummer!

Great shot, Al! That's a little girl there! I've got loads of them, Dale! So far, I am quite sure I've seen three varieties, but I am always aware that about 14 varieties are known to be present in Texas. I have seen male and female Ruby Throats, Black Chinned hummers and Rufous hummers. I'm  waiting to see a broad tailed hummer!  Keep those feeders full of fresh nectar! I am always in awe of them! Forget reality television; they make for much better entertainment any day!

Dale, did you ever see the movie "Field of Dreams?" There's a famous line in that movie that says something like "If you build it, they will come." It was referring to baseball, but I think the same thing applies to hummers. If you plant it (meaning what they LOVE,) they too will come! Patience, my friend! Get those flowers out there and put up loads of feeders. I have a small place and I've got 5 up now and I can tell you that it's definitely NOT too many! They are all being used all the time!
