Gardening Life

You know we all have heard the saying that someone was born with a greenthumb.

Well  I got to thinking about the gardening part of my life. I have been gardening in some type of way every since I was a small child.

I first learned to garden with my parents especially my dad.  My dad and I planted and grew some of the loveliest roses you have ever seen. My dad loved roses as much as I do.  His favorite color of roses was red just like mine.

But my parents also taught me to garden in other ways besides lovely flowers. My parents and I would plant a vegetable garden every year. I use to help them plant all the seeds and small plants for the things that were planted instead of seeds. I then had the priviledge of helping to pick all of the lovely vegetables that we grew. We grew bell peppers, hot peppers, peas, butterbeans, corns, green beans, radish, tomatoes, and even some fruits such as strawberries, pears, peaches, and apples. Every year we would have good food to eat. I never thought alot about this until now that I am grown and now I am very thankful that my parents taught me to grow flowers and vegetables.

Even after I married I still helped with vegetables that my parents always grew. We would harvest and put up the vegetables in our freezer to eat later on especially in winter time. After I married then I found that my husband loved the outdoors alot so then again I found that we would work together in planting many plants in our own flower gardens. We planted numberous roses my favorite of all flowers. We also planted azaelas, trees, shrubs, and many many lovely flowers. So I guess I have always had growing something in my blood since birth.

So when you hear the expression they were born with green thumbs you might be right 'cause I know I was born around all kinds of growing vegetables and flowers and was taught at a very young age to grow things.

I just love to garden still. I guess I will always enjoy it as long as I am able to dig a hole and play in the dirt.
