There is nothing quite as challenging then to garden in a finite space. The back yard is 25' wide and 28', or so deep! The front garden is pretty much the same size!
My training is with developmentally challenged adults (you could call me a social/behavioural sociologist), so it doesn't take me much to transfer this knowledge into learning the behaviours of plants. I've been told by a few visitors that they have a hard time leaving my back garden because they become so relaxed, and calm!....and that they wouldn't mind paying just to come sit in our garden!
You'll find me out back, or in the patio off the kitchen, most days, sipping my large mug of tea!
Some visitors ask me if I could come and landscape/design their gardens. I tell them point blank that they could not afford me...and they laugh.....they do not see the amount of thought and energy that went into the gardens stretched over 10 years! They see the "finished" gardens and not the history ofg getting from there to here!
I have mulled over the idea about getting into landscaping, but at my stage in life I do not buy green bananas!!
It may be a small area (but it's infinitely bigger than mine,) but it looks like a fabulous place to just sit, think, sip a cup of coffee, read the morning paper, a book, or spend time with friends and family.....Really lovely, Ron....You make a helluva good landscape designer! Is that your professional training? (Heck, my professional training is music history and theory...and then graduate work is Medieval History and Classical Latin -- real relevant to life, wouldn't you say?)
