We removed all the lawn and planted mostly perennials.  It is very eclectic.  If a particular perennial doesn't do well I pull it up, and compost it, and plant something else! 

There is no more weeding, feeding, mowing, raking and watering.  Except for the last one, we mulched with shredded cedar bark to conserve soil moisture.
