If you are repairing something made out of wood, and you have to replace the old wood screws, sometimes the hole is too large and the new screws won't hold. To fix this -- take some wood glue, like Elmers or another brand, and a wooden toothpick. Put the glue in the hole, and push in pieces of the toothpick to fill the hole. Once it dries hard, you can insert the wood screw as if the wood were new. (Tip from my carpenter Daddy before he passed.)
