Printer-friendly versionDicentra exima 'Dolly Sods'. I am totally impressed by this one! The lacy blue/green foliage and multiple blooms all summer are amazing. I grow it in part shade but it tolerates quite a bit of sun in cooler climates. It's also said to be one of the most heat tolerant varieties for southern gardens to zone 8.... blooming well in temps over 90 degrees, in the shade.Fern leaf Bleeding Heart 'Dolly Sods'

Connie, my mom has some bleeding hearts in her yard, but none of them have foliage like that one! I just love that interest...and the contrast between that dark green feathery foliage and those beautiful flowers is a real sight! I would never have thought that bleeding hearts could grow down here........then again, after the summer we had with 100+ degree temps for days on end, I'm not sure what all would have grown. The drought has been terrible.
