The Easter Egg Plant is an unusual addition to your garden.  White eggs mature to yellow or sometimes a variety of colors. While it is an annual, the seeds form inside the eggs and can be removed from ripe eggs, dried, and saved for planting or trading.

This was my first

year growing them. I got to save the seeds from one egg. Three others got whipped by Ike. I will be growing them again next year.

Easter Eggs.

My grand kids would freak out seeing this wonder. I have never see one before. Are they hard to grow? Are they a native plant?I learn more and more each day on this site. Showed this to brother Dave and he said we need that then we don't have to boil eggs at Easter! Thanks for sharing.

Very easy

Hi Alya, These are very easy to grow. I purchased the seed from Parks seeds years ago and collect seed off the fruits each year. The botanical name is Solanum melongena esculentum Hybrid. They look and feel like real chicken eggs, very interesting in the garden! There may be some seeds on the way, in the package I sent you. In hot climates they do best with some afternoon or dappled shade. Dave would get a kick out of watching them grow and change colors!
