The flowers are small and purple. When the blooms fall off, the eggs (seed pods) start forming. It begins white, and looks like a bunch of hen eggs. Then it matures to a cream, yellow, orange and sometimes green. The Easter Egg Plant is a member of the potato family.Printer-friendly version

Fun and easy

Great plant description!

They're so easy to start from seed, too. I've given many seedlings to friends, telling them they will grow eggs... they look at me like I'm NUTS! Then the eggs come ... and the WOW... COOL!! Now I start many of them for my friends that HAVE to grow them again! LOL!

Please can you save some

Please can you save some seeds for me? Which colour do you have? Are these aubergines?

Lourdes

I have tons of seeds

In each egg is hundreds of seeds. The plant itself is with all the colors, there is not just one color or the other. As the egg matures it changes colors. I'm not sure what aubergines means. It is an annual where I am at zone 5. I have been sick and still am so if I don't answer you right back don't worry I will sooner or later. Theresa :)
