Easter Egg Plant:        See the plant ID... Easter Egg Plant

Easter Egg Plant: The Easter Egg Plant is an unusual addition to your garden.  White eggs mature to yellow or sometimes a variety of colors. While it is an annual, the seeds form inside the eggs and can be removed from ripe eggs, dried, and saved for planting or trading. See the plant ID... Easter Egg Plant

A fun ornamental eggplant. The eggs are the size of chicken eggs! The eggs mature to a deep yellow, sometimes pink or blue. Seeds can be removed from a mature egg, dried and saved. Very easy to start from seed.

If this is the egg plant

If this is the egg plant type...you can eat them...they are really good in salad or in stir fry...I have grown them for a few years now...if it is the type from the gourd family...they are fun for the kids to make shakers..but these would be the vines ones...

It is from the

It is from the eggpant family, but a hybrid developed for an ornamental plant. I've heard they are edible but never tried them.  There are also eggplant varieties called 'Easter egg' and 'Casper' that are white and used for cooking. Here's some more info on Eggplant

Kym, your kids will

Kym, your kids will get a kick out ot it. The eggs look and feel like chicken eggs, no kidding. I had 18 eggs on one plant last year... I had to stake it up! They start real easy from seed and it's easy to save seed off them, too.
