Printer-friendly versionThis step of daylily division shows the entire root ball of lilies to be divided.  It takes a large circle cut deep and angled in slightly toward the bottom of the root ball.  Notice the shape of the it to see how it looks when dug properly.  This step is prior to any washing and separating of the clump.
