This is the first year I have grown Datura. I started them from seed in mid March, zone 5. Beautiful July blooms brighten my deck!
Gloria... these are amazing! Thank you again for the seeds!
They are Beautiful!!!
I have the white ones this year and have had the purple singles. They don't last long. It is interesting how another variety would be so different. Cool!

Spectacular!

COOL!
Susan, they stay open round the clock... the blooms last about 4-5 days. As the old flowers started to fall, it produced more buds. Usually I would remove old blooms, but I wanted seed, so I left them on... and I'm getting some seed pods! I still have a few blooms on the potted plants, and the plants in the ground are just starting to bloom. I love them!
They were so easy to start from seed, in the house of course. I just put them in moist soil and, wow, I think every one of them germinated. My friends are loving them, too! LOL
Wow!

Datura
You are so welcome Lav. Those are gorgeous! I've sent lots of these seeds out to members, especially last Christmas in cards...(Double Yellow Datura on the pk) if they didn't try planting them....their loss! LOL
Penny I'll check my seed stash, if I have any left they are yours.
A 'must try'!
They are beautiful, Gloria! And so easy! I sure hope everyone tried growing them. The plants in the ground grew slower, so I have lots of blooms yet to come... whahoo! And hopefully lots of seeds to share, too!
A friend called me the other day to tell me how gorgeous the plant I gave her was... she thanks you too!
I'll bite...

Hopefully I'll have plenty to share with all... or at least everyone that wants some and wasn't lucky enough to get them from Gloria.
The plant has a scent... but, hmmm, I'm not too sure if I really like it. I think it's one of those that some people like and some think it smells funny. Sorry, I don't have a better way to describe it. LOL
Warm season annuals usually don't germinate here until very late in spring, when the ground finally gets real warm. I'm not sure if they would have enough time to produce blooms before fall cool temps would come along. But YOU probably would have luck with self-seeding.
Gorgeous!
