I have several brugs now and I want to control how big they get.  How do I control the growth and still get blooms?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

I know for certain plants

I know for certain plants that get very large  folks do what is called a root pruning. They take the plant out of the pot and trim away the roots so that they can still repot it in the original pot.  I have read (cant remember where, sorry) that this helps with containing the plant size.  This was someone who had a large plant in an apartment and didnt have means to put it outside but still wanted to keep it.  DOnt know if I am making sense here.  Also not sure if it will work the same way with brugs. It is also done for bonsai.  check out this article

Some plants if top trimmed they will bush out instead of up.  You could try that too.  But I will leave it up to DeeDee to pass her expert opinion.

Repotting brugs

I completely forgot about this......DeeDee and I did an article together about repotting brugs, and it explains how to prune the roots. She does that, but she also takes frequent cuttings. I believe this keeps them from growing taller into trees, but allows them to remain bushy.

Here's the article: How To Repot A Brugmansia

Good Question

Now that you bring this up, I'm wondering about it myself. I know that DeeDee often takes cuttings from hers.
