MG by cutting?

Has anyone tried to propagate MG by rooting a cutting? Would you get faster blooms in comparison to growing form seed?

DorothyD, how long after seeds germinated did you get a bloom?

Seed to bloom Mg

Tatyana, I really did not pay much attention.  I have several types growing right now.  I started most of them indoors.  Seems that they just took off when I put them outside.  I put them out as soon as it started getting warm.  All of mine are in pots.  I don't know if they are propagated by cuttings.  The seeds are so easy.

Nice MG

Wow! What a knockout these beauties are! I also have some JMG seeds from a previous member. Only one type came up though and I had 100% germination. They are not the Blue Silk but hope they are as pretty as yours. Thanks for sharing!

Pay it FORWARDS!! You never know, it may come back to YOU when you need it!!

Varigated leaves

You are not imagining.  They are variagated.

Blue silk

I really like this one.  This is my first large flowering mg to start blooming.  The blooms are about 5".  It starts out blue but turns lavender then pink before it closes.  The blooms are a bit floppy and feel like silk.  I had to move it to a spot that gets only bright sun because no matter how much water I gave it in the morning sun evening shade spot the leaves still wrinkled in the heat and humidity here.  It is doing so much better now.

Oh my goodness, those are

Oh my goodness, those are just beautiful, Dorothy!! I'm growing some JMG and a Chinese MG from seeds a previous GH member sent to me. They are babies yet. If they look half as pretty as yours then I am going to be one very happy gardener!

Gorgeous!

I think I planted blue silk, too! I had no idea that they look like that! It's really lovely looking and should contrast nicely with my other MG's. I can't wait to see them all bloom! I have them growing up the side of the building!
