Description

This is something my mother used to make for my family a lot when I was growing up! We always loved it and thought it was a "special" dessert! Funny how kids sometimes think simple things are so "special." Whenever I make this, I always think back to the days when my mom made it!

Ingredients

  • 4 apples with the core removed
  • 4 T brown sugar
  • 4 t raisins
  • 4 T cinnamon (ground)
  • 1 c water

Instructions

Use a 9 inch glass pie pan or an 8" x 8 " square glass baking dish.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Wash apples thoroughly. Using an apple corer, remove just the core from each of the apples. (You need to use one apple and 1 tbsp or tsp of each of the ingredients per person. )

Place the apples right side up in the pan. Pour water over the apples so that there is about .5 to .75 inches of water covering the bottom of the pan.

Sprinkle one tbsp of brown sugar over each of the apples. Then sprinkle one tbsp of cinnamon over each of the apples and then put the teaspoon of raisins into the hole where the core was for each apple.

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until the apples feel soft when you poke them with a fork or knife.

Notes

You can serve them warm and put heavy cream over them, or serve them with vanilla ice cream! My father always loved the heavy cream!
