If you wnat something different try E. Ginger!  Grows 6" high and spreads 20". hardy in zones 5-9. It has strange shaped flowers hidden under the leaves in May and June.  Produces small fruit that explode sending seeds here and there, so I usually have a few seedlings popping up unexpectedly in bare spots around the main plant!  I love the shape and color of the leaves which are evergreen!
